FIR against army in Rajouri after illegal construction row | KNO

Rajouri, July 10 (KNO) : Jammu and Kashmir police has registered a case against army for damaging an under construction building near a vital army establishment. The building has been damaged at a time when illegal constructions is becoming grave and resulting face off between some locals and army authorities. Sources told KNO that, six days ago some army men allegedly appeared on a private building construction near army's ALG ground Rajouri and resorted to dismantling the building. "Soon after the incident, building owner, who is a retired government officer, lodged his complaint before police and alleged that armymen vandalised his under construction building," the sources told KNO. On the basis of complaint and after initial investigation, police has formally registered a case in FIR 408/2019 under sections 447,426,147,342,504,506 RPC against army. When contacted a senior police officer in Rajouri said that FIR has been registered after an owner of an under construction building lodged complaint along with videos that armymen from a camp near his land site dismantled his property in the absence of civilian authorities which is violation of norms. Sources told KNO that issues of illegal construction near vital army establishments has become grave in Rajouri with civil authorities yet to come up with any order or restrictions to check illegal constructions. "On one hand army gets the work of illegal construction stopped with the help of police and on the other hand civil authorities are constantly granting permissions for construction which clearly represents lack of communication between government agencies and the same is shaping the situation grave," sources told KNO.
